Weddings at The River Lee Hotel – A Cork Wedding Photographer’s Favourite Spot
As a Cork wedding photographer, I’ve been lucky enough to shoot in some truly beautiful spots around the city—but The River Lee Hotel always stands out. There’s just something about it. Maybe it’s the way the light pours in through the big windows, or how peaceful the riverside feels right in the middle of town. Either way, every wedding I’ve photographed there has had this calm, happy energy—and I love that.
This is Mairead & Ross's wedding at River Lee Hotel. We had such a fab day with a great crew and managed to sneak off down to Fitzgerald Park which is just around the corner to get some fabulous wedding photos!
A Cork City Hotel with a Chill Vibe
Let’s be real—city centre hotels can sometimes feel a bit too polished or corporate. But The River Lee has nailed that balance between modern style and genuine warmth. It’s sleek and stylish without feeling stiff, and the staff always go above and beyond to make everyone feel at home.
From a photographer’s perspective, the location is a dream. You’re right on the river (ideal for those just-married portraits), and you’re only a short stroll from some of Cork’s most photogenic spots—think tree-lined paths, cool old bridges, and even some quirky urban textures if that’s your vibe.
Natural Light = Happy Photographer
If there’s one thing that makes a big difference to wedding photos, it’s light—and The River Lee has loads of it. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the Mirror Room let in this gorgeous, soft light that makes everything look better (you, your flowers, the cake—you name it). It’s one of those venues where you don’t have to fight the lighting, which means I get to focus on capturing the real, relaxed moments as they happen.
Great for Laid-Back Couples
Most of the couples I work with aren’t into stiff poses or overly formal photos. They just want to enjoy their day and have the people they love around them. That’s why The River Lee is such a great fit—it’s stylish, but not stuffy. You can have a glass of bubbly by the bar, sneak off for a few quiet moments by the river, and then dance the night away in a space that feels cosy but elegant.
